Warmer weather and rain are coming next week\, so we are postponing our Little Pond Interfaith Devotional – Stories for a Winter Afternoon – to Sunday January 11 at 1pm. Do bring a story if you have one you would like to share – a story from your life that\, like a fable\, teaches you truth\, a story that you hold close to help you remember it. See details in the updated flyer/message below.\n \nIn addition\, on Saturday\, January 10\, from noon to about 5 o’clock\, Little Pond will host a Native American drum/dance social gathering.  Folks who typically participate in the outdoor powwows in the warm months will have the opportunity to come celebrate in the comfort of the great room at Little Pond.  This is an informal event primarily offered for the enjoyment of the local Native community.  And it is also a public event – – open to anyone with a respectful interest    There will be a potluck meal\, drumming and social dancing and a giveaway blanket.  If you decide to participate\, please bring food to share and perhaps an item to give away. There is no charge for the event\, but please consider making a donation. \n \nIn closing\, we want to share this lovely picture from the Baha’i Feast of Sharaf on December 30 at the home of Henry and Laura Lawrence – welcoming young and old in spite of the cold – with special joy in a family visit from Heitha Padfield and daughter Nia from Belize! DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends\, \nAt a recent Bahai community gathering we consulted about holding a local Fundraising event. It was agreed that having a Fundraiser for the National Fund which honors our loved ones who have passed to the next world would be a fitting tribute. In the writings we are exhorted to pray and do pure deeds in memory of those who have passed from this physical realm into the Abha Kingdom. These deeds and contributions not only offer us comfort but also aid the advancement of their souls. \nWith this in mind\, on Saturday January 3\, a potluck luncheon will be held at the home of Roseann Bowerman at noon. We will gather joyfully to share prayers and stories of those we wish to honor. Bring photos if you wish. \n \n\n Contributions can be made by check written out to the National Bahai Fund or if you prefer to contribute through the online contribution system you can inform Shirin Khalighi\, our local LSA treasurer of the amount of your contribution so that we can keep a tally of the amount raised by this event. Please put your Bahai ID number on the check and a note regarding who you wish to memorialize. \nPlease be advised that anyone you wish to honor\, whether Bahai or not\, can be  memorialized by this gift. DESCRIPTION:Ascension of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá** marking the passing of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá in 1921. \n\nHello dear Baha’is in the Lehigh Valley and Reading Cluster\, \n \nAs the Holy days coordinators\, we know we did not suggest any activity for The Day of the Covenant and Passing of ‘Abdu’l-Baha\, but  thought it appropriate to send around a reminder of these two Holy days. We suggest that you commemorate these two days on your own –  The Day of the Covenant  Sunset 11/24 – Sunset 11/25 AND Day of the Covenant\, Sunset 11/26 – Sunset 11/27 (to be observed at 1;30 AM on Thursday 11/27). \n \nOf course\, feel free to choose whatever manner you decide to observe these two Holy days\, but we offer a portion from World Order of Baha’u’llah by Shoghi Effendi regarding the station of ‘Abdu’l-Baha’ for your consideration.\n \nTammy and Laura\n\nHe is\, and should for all time be regarded\, first and foremost\, as the Center and Pivot of Bahá’u’lláh’s peerless and all-enfolding Covenant\, His most exalted handiwork\, the stainless Mirror of His light\, the perfect Exemplar of His teachings\, the unerring Interpreter of His Word\, the embodiment of every Bahá’í ideal\, the incarnation of every Bahá’í virtue\, the Most Mighty Branch sprung from the Ancient Root\, the Limb of the Law of God\, the Being “round Whom all names revolve\,” the Mainspring of the Oneness of Humanity\, the Ensign of the Most Great Peace\, the Moon of the Central Orb of this most holy Dispensation—styles and titles that are implicit and find their truest\, their highest and fairest expression in the magic name ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá. Brooks\, a professor at Harvard University and writer of the Atlantic’s How to\nBuild a Life column on Happiness\, wrote a piece entitled: \n“FIVE BAHA’I LESSONS FOR A HAPPIER LIFE” \nWe are living in stressful and difficult times.
