DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends\, \nYou are warmly invited to our monthly DEVOTIONAL GATHERING AT LITTLE POND\, \nSunday March 12 at 1pm. You are also welcome to forward this message to your friends and \nbring guests. \nOur theme for this Devotional is Unity and the Holy Spirit. We are delighted that Bridget’s brother\, \nJohn E. Hare\, Noah Porter Professor of Philosophical Theology at Yale University\, is joining \nus to talk briefly on this theme. It is the topic of his latest book published by Oxford University Press. \n  \nUnity and the Holy Spirit investigates the work of the Holy Spirit in the world (as distinct from the church). \nJohn proposes that the Spirit aims at unity of four different kinds: unity between us and the material world\, \nunity within us\, unity between us and others\, and unity between us and God. The book ends by asking \nwhy the Spirit aims at unity\, and the answer is that the Spirit loves. \n“It is the Spirit who is the centre that holds all of these different unities together and continues to be \npresent in the life of the new heaven and the new earth which is the dwelling place of God.” \n– John E. Hare \nJohn’s brief talk will be preceded by our Devotions: Prayers\, Poetry\, Sacred Texts from different faiths\, and Music. \nThe music includes John playing on our piano the slow movement of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 2.
